Fanstastic job everyone....cast and crew! It was a wonderful show, and a wonderful experience. Thank you all for your hard work. Sure hope to see everyone in the summer for Youth Theatre Camp in July. Don't forget to pre-register for Camp. Watch the Barrow Civic website for more details.
There were a couple of pairs of shoes/boots and a couple of camera cases left behind at the theatre. Check the lost and found at the box office if you think you lost anything.
If you sent me your email address, I will be sharing my pictures as soon as they are available. If anyone else took pictures during the show or backstage, and you upload to walmart.com, please share them with me, and I will, in turn, share with everyone else...DevotedOne9@yahoo.com.
Thank you again for a very successful show!

The Countdown Begins
We are coming up on tech week, and everyone is doing a great job! Keep working hard, sing loud and strong, and keep smiling!
Rip Tide and Zip Tide strike a nasty pose as the seaweed prepare to wait on the queen and Jenna offers to model the crab head while crafting a crown for Neptune.
A couple reminder for the parents...tomorrow night...February 4th...is the last day to sign up for the Parent's Booster Group. Information is hanging in the green room. Also, happy ad information and money is due on Thursday as well, and, if any parent is interested in helping with the school shows on February 11th, the sign ups and money is due tomorrow.

January 26 Rehearsal Pics
Wow...everyone in the tech crew has been working hard, and it shows! The stage is coming along quite nicely already, and the coral looks fantastic in all its purple, orange, and blue glory! This is going to be a fantastic undersea world. A special kudos to Aaron, Andrew, and the "men" for all the sawing and cutting and "man's work" that's been going on backstage building the ship.

The next rehearsal is Thursday, January 28th, 6:30 - 8:30. The rehearsal involves everyone, including the technical crew. Wear your dance shoes! (except the tech crew...you wear old clothes)
Leah glitters up Queen Neptune's trident..and her hands...and her pants...and her hoodie..and....Jimmy, Veronica, Chloe, and Sam put highlights on the coral under the watchful and artistic eye of Mrs. Thompson....ok....so she really was just helping prop up the coral for them!
Rebecca runs through some acting exercises with some characters on stage. No, Connor...pretend the camera ISN'T there!
Characters don't forget to be memorizing your lines. Show time will be here before you know it!
Martha will be distributing school excuses at Thursday's practices so that your principal knows you will be participating in the show!
Thanks for all your hard work. Keep it up!

January 26 Rehearsal
Tonight's rehearsal, January 26th, involves all tech kids and all characters with lines....MINUS the sailors. The sailors worked hard last week and worked through their stuff, so they will not need to be there tonight.
Rehearsal will run from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
I hope everyone was able to see the fantastic article in last nights "News Herald" on the front page..."Barrow all-youth productions celebrating 10th anniversary." It was a great article written by Kristi Cummins about the last 10 years of the FCOA Youth Theatre and what drives it (hint...Martha!). Connor Kingdom was even interviewed and was quoted as saying "It teaches us teamwork, and it's really fun and upbeat and you make a lot of friends when you're here."
Also, of note, alumnae from the past shows are encouraged to attend the "Little Mermaid," and, if they wear their show shirts or bring a program from a previous show, will receive $1 off their ticket and be invited to the stage for the finale. Very cool! The stage will be packed!!!
Well, the show has been great so far. If you have any questions or comments, please see me, Theresa, Stacy, or Jess....or you can see Martha or Kelly before or after rehearsal. Thanks!
Keep up the great work kids!

Incidentals
The next rehearsal is Saturday morning, January 23rd, 10am-1pm. This is rehearsal for everyone...actors and technical crew. Bring your dancing shoes and your best attitudes (as always!).
There will be no rehearsal on Sunday, as we have had no snow days to make up.
Letters for the school principals to excuse students from school the day of the school performances will be distributed on Thursday, January 28th.
Cast picture forms and DVD forms will be not be given out until tech week. Money will be due at that time.
Thank you! Feel free to ask before or after practice if you have any questions!

Pictures from January 21 Rehearsal
The mermaids and the sailors got down to some serious blocking and rehearsing on Thursday night as they started learning their lines.
To the right Anemone and Clem worry that Zip Tide and Rip Tide may be lurking near as Bubbly looks on nervously.
Jordyn, Bridget, and Connor wait and watch from the auditorium. One of the best parts of being "part" of the theatre is the friends you make there!

Jimmy, one of the tech, practices his ninja techique.
The mermaids practice their dancing (and posing) in the lobby.
Prince Theodore and his first mate get ready to follow their fellow sailors into the sea.

Everyone loves having Lilly around during rehearsals. She is real patient while everyone does their thing and while her mom does her directing. She doesn't even really (yawn!) get (yawn!) tired.

Reminders
Hope everyone had a great time rehearsing and dancing on Thursday night Saturday morning. The next rehearsal will be Tuesday, January 12 at 6:30 p.m.
This rehearsal will be for all Rips and Zips, the Sea Witch, Sea Weed, and all the Sailors. Also, the technical crew will be needed starting this night. There is lots to do!
Reminder to parents to sign up to work backstage. If you are unable to sign up one night, please contribute $10 to the Youth Theatre Fund for water and other "perks" for the Youth Theatre program. Sign sheets are now available and will be sitting out for parents to sign up.
T-shirt order forms were given to the kids at Thursday's rehearsal. These are NOT mandatory, and no one should feel obligated to purchase a shirt or pants. If desired, short sleeve shirts are $8; long sleeve shirts are $11; and sweat pants are $18. If you didn't get a form from your child, you should get one soon. Orders are due on January 23rd so that the kids can get their shirts back in time to be used for publicity for the show. Checks should be written to "FCOA."
Also, a reminder that $10 (total) is required from each child for the script, music, and CD. This check can also be made to "FCOA" and WILL be RETURNED to you as soon as the required materials are returned (at the close of the show). With copyright laws, it is very important that these things are returned, and this is the most eficient way to be sure we get these back. Thank you!
Encourage your kids to practice their songs and to practice good, healthy habits while the show is going on. It can be an exhausting process, and good eating and sleeping habits go a long way in helping combat fatigue during school. We are very excited to have your child involved in this production, and EVERY role is important, from the lead roles to the supporting roles, from the chorus to the technical crew. A show cannot be put on without all the characters, and it cannot be good if all the characters aren't good. So encourage your child to stay in character, have a good attitude, and know that they are important to us! The following link gives some tips about staying healthy even when you are busy...some suggestions are geared for the adults, but we are busy right now, too...running the kids around to the rehearsals!
Fitting Healthy Habits Into Your Busy Life
Lastly, if you have any extra paint, we can certainly use it for the set! Bright colors and blues are especially needed. Also, swim noodles are needed.
I hope that this is as wonderful an experience for you and your child, as it is for us!
